Frequently Asked Questions

Can you guarantee a Hamar Bull Jumping ceremony?

No — ceremonies follow the community's own calendar and are not tourist events. We plan trips during the Aug–Nov ceremony season to maximise the chance, but participation is never guaranteed.

Is photography allowed?

Yes, with permission. Always ask through your guide first; many individuals will expect a small fee (typically 5–10 birr). Never photograph someone who declines.

What is the road condition like?

Main roads to Jinka and Turmi are paved or graded. Access tracks to villages and Mago National Park are rough and require a 4x4. Drive times are longer than distances suggest.
